Welcome to the home of CLUB SODA’S COURSES TO CHANGE YOUR DRINKING

Ideas for new holiday traditions

Fill your house with music: Club Soda’s co-founder Dru, who you might know from our telegram channel and other courses, fills their home with Christmas music every day from the start of December. Regular radio and playlists get banished in favour of festive pop, carols and festive classical music. Club Soda team member Nia suggested this Spotify playlist.

Sink into a Christmas movie: There are so many Christmas classics to enjoy, as well as cheesy Hallmark movies to laugh at. Movie night at home, snuggled on the sofa with popcorn and hot chocolate, can be a real treat especially in miserable weather.

Let the feasting commence: Now is not the time of year to worry about your waistline. Our ancestors gathered to feast together in the darkest months of the year, and you can follow in their footsteps. Cooking up a storm is a great distraction from drinking too.

Play some games: We’ve all got a relative who is a sore loser at Monopoly, but games don’t have to be a competitive nightmare. Building things with Lego can be great fun and very absorbing. Or you could crack out a jigsaw, dust off the playing cards or make a treasure hunt around the house.

Join in online: There is a lot to worry about this winter, and time online can easily turn into doom scrolling. But the internet is a great way to connect as well. Take the time to chat with friends and family. If you worry that social drinking might get out of hand, this can be a great way to see people. On the other side of the screen, nobody will know what’s in your glass.

Head out for a walk: Winter is a cabinet of curiosities. So if being home is starting to feel claustrophobic, pull on your boots and head out to explore. Take the time to notice what’s around you, and take a camera so you can photograph beautiful and interesting things. A hot drink when you get back feels so much better than a cold beer.

Get crafting: Make yourself some new seasonal decorations for the house – get creative with things you can find in nature, crochet yourself some exciting new tree ornaments. Keeping busy is great for keeping away from thoughts about drinking.
