Rethinking Your Wine Drinking is a short course to help you reshape your relationship with wine. If you want to drink less or not at all, and you’re wrestling with wine habits that no longer meet your needs, this course is your essential guide to reexamining wine’s role in your life.
Step by step, this short course will give you skills, tools and information to understand your drinking habits, focus on challenges you want to solve and create practical plans towards lasting change.
Wrestling with wine? It’s time to rethink your drinking
Rethinking Your Wine Drinking is a short course designed specifically for wine drinkers who want to drink less or not at all. Wine drinking is unlike any other type of alcohol consumption, and when it’s time to change, many people find wine the hardest drink to cut down or quit. So changing your relationship with wine requires a specialist approach. In this short course, you will discover the secrets of rethinking your wine drinking.
Rethinking Your Wine Drinking takes a step-by-step approach. Progress at your own pace to:
- Pay attention to the situations in which you drink more than you want to
- Understand how various patterns of drinking meet different needs
- Get to grips with the thinking that keeps you drinking wine
- Learn to appreciate why traditional methods of moderation are likely to fail
- Discover practical ways to reduce your drinking days, including all the way to zero
- Deconstruct your wine preferences so you can make better alcohol-free wine choices
- Expand your horizons with a wider range of drinks for the wine occasion.
Plus, there’s bonus material, including guides to buying alcohol-free wines, creating food and wine pairings, a podcast interview with leading industry experts, and a real-life inspirational story of how a wine industry professional discovered a world of flavours beyond wine.
As part of your welcome to the course, you’ll get detailed personalised feedback on your current drinking. And every lesson gives you a chance to reflect on your changing habits and track your happiness, so you’ll see real progress in a short time.
Rethinking Your Wine Drinking is designed to complement one of Club Soda’s in-depth courses about drinking, like How to Stop Drinking or How to Drink Mindfully. But it’s a freestanding short course in its own right too. Whether you are taking your first steps towards cutting down, understanding why you’ve struggled to stay alcohol-free or refining your drinking habits for the long-term, Rethinking Your Wine Drinking is your gateway to a world beyond wine.

Is there any reason I shouldn’t do the course?
Rethinking Your Wine Drinking gives you space to reflect on your relationship with wine, but it does not require you to change your drinking in any particular way. So it is suitable whether you are considering moderation or abstinence.
However, you must not stop drinking suddenly if you think you are physically dependent on alcohol. If you think you might be dependent on alcohol, you should speak to your doctor. The onboarding self-assessment will help you understand these risks.
How does the course work?
All the course materials are hosted on a secure and private part of this website. The course is divided into seven lessons plus bonus material, which you can work through at your own pace. You’ll find your onboarding self-assessment and check-ins in the course materials.

Is this course enough to help me change my drinking?
Rethinking Your Wine Drinking is a short course with a very specific focus, helping you reassess your relationship with wine.
While the course is self-contained, there are many aspects of changing your drinking that are not directly covered in the course. So you might want to consider enrolling in Rethinking Your Wine Drinking alongside one of Club Soda’s in-depth courses, like How to Stop Drinking if you are taking a break or going alcohol-free, or How to Drink Mindfully if you are cutting down, moderating or exploring change.
While we make every effort to run our programmes as advertised, we reserve the right to change course content, dates, trainers and moderators if necessary. We also reserve the right to suspend any member who does not keep our Club rules and terms and conditions.
