Making space for new things

Whilst the received wisdom is that you should focus on only one New Year’s resolution, at Club Soda we believe that when changing your drinking is your primary goal, you need some mini ones to run alongside it. Nothing that may be too hard to obtain in its own right and therefore scupper your drink related goal. No trying to do a part-time degree, lose loads of weight, and become a world champion mud wrestler – they can wait until you have your drinking under control. 

What we’re looking at more are things that can form distractions. Things to occupy the new space that not drinking opens up, or something to distract you when the discomfort is hard to bear. It could be playing scrabble, going to the cinema, learning a new language, taking an art class, or some form of exercise that does not have a specific quest attached to it.
