WOOP the whats of your holidays

Over the past few lessons, you’ve started developing a really clear picture of where and when you drink and don’t drink, as well who you do and don’t drink with.

What you drink, the routines alcohol fits into, and what happens when you drink it, is the last vital bit of information. This helps you understand the role that alcohol has been playing in your life, and if there are particular triggers you could pay more attention to. It’s also the best starting point when you’re deciding what to drink or do instead.

Looking at any of the triggers you have come up with, or maybe a particularly challenging one, WOOP yourself a plan. Here’s what to do:

  1. Spend a bit more time thinking about the trigger. Work out what it was that alcohol was really doing in that situation, what was the payoff. 
  2. Start writing a list of alternative things that would achieve the same payoff.
  3. Do a WOOP to consolidate your plan (and keep going, doing as many as you like if it helps!).
