Noticing when

How does time influence your drinking?

For some of us, the relationship between drinking and time is practical – we drink by the clock. We’d never dream of drinking in the morning, but as soon as the clocks hits 6pm, we hit the bar.

Or perhaps the day of the week is important to us. We go easy during the week so we can have a weekend blowout, except then we end up feeling the pain of that on a Monday morning.

And then there’s that regular midweek event that inevitably sees us drinking more than we want to….

If we’re honest, our time-based strategies aren’t always as successful as we’d like them to be. We might follow strict routines, as a way of telling ourselves our drinking is under control, while all the time having a nagging concern that we’re drinking more than is good for us. Especially if we hold back from drinking on some days so we can binge on others.

Whenever we drink, our habits can be regular as clockwork. But understanding the patterns of our drinking over time can give us the ability to change those habits for good.
