Welcome to the home of CLUB SODA’S COURSES TO CHANGE YOUR DRINKING

Noticing where

All of us are shaped, to a greater or lesser extent, by the places we spend time in.

Think about it. How many times have you found yourself feeling frustrated and bored, boxed in by the four walls around you? But the moment you get up and take yourself outside for a walk, your mood shifts. That’s in part because you are going from being static to being mobile, of course. But more than that, you were responding to a place in a particular way; being someone else changes how you feel.

Taking yourself to a different place changes your perspective. That’s one reason we enjoy going on holiday. A change of scenery really does do us good.

Or consider this. How great does it feel to get home at the end of the day, knowing you can leave the stresses of the outside world behind you? At best, our homes can feel like a sanctuary, and not just because we can shut the door and keep troublesome things away. We make cosy and inviting spaces for ourselves because they make us feel good. Our homes matter to us.

But even the happiest homes can have an impact on our drinking behaviour. That’s true for unhappy homes too, and especially if your home isn’t a safe environment. Drinking can become a way to cope with a difficult domestic situation.

Your thoughts, feelings and behaviour are shaped by the places you find yourself in. That includes your drinking. As you pay attention to the places in which you drink, you can begin to change how you drink.
