Course structure

The context around your drinking shapes the way in which you act, and you can make life easier for yourself by taking more control of your environment. So through this course, you’re going to look at your life and plans over the holiday season using four simple questions – where, when, who and what.

We will lay the groundwork by learning a bit about mindfulness and starting to notice what’s going on around us. We’re going to use this look to delve into our experiences of past holidays, what was good, what was less so, what we want to keep and take forwards with us, and what we want to let go of.

And from using these reflections, we will start to build our happier holiday wishes for this year.

We’ll be using a tool called WOOP as we go along. You will learn how to plan for success and what to do when you get blown off course.

There’s also an emergency toolkit, and here you will find advice on dealing with the ‘big four’ of changing your drinking – cravings, feeling like you’re running out of steam, defusing the ‘fuck it button’, and coming back from disappointment.

And then our final block is around taking what you’ve learned over the holiday season forward into the New Year.
